About Wildfire Internet (Founded 1995)
Wildfire Internet is a software development and technology consulting company founded by George Sykes and 3 Tech Friends in 1995 making it one of the longest-running Internet-focused businesses in the St. Louis area.
Our Story
In the early days of the public Internet, George recognized the transformative potential of online technology for businesses and communities. Starting as a small operation, Wildfire Internet quickly grew by building custom web solutions when the web was still young. From early e-commerce sites, Wildfire's software was called WakeUpMoney, to complex database-driven applications, the company helped businesses across the country establish their first online presence. The founders all had long hair, lots of it and their Silicon Valley energy combined with midwest work ethics developed some really cool software for hundreds of clients. Wildfire also made one lucky key decision which was to purchase great domains like edwardsville.com, collinsville.com and other St. Louis Pure City domains which later became the Wildfire CityPages.
Over nearly three decades, Wildfire Internet has evolved with the times developing everything from content management systems and custom software to modern web platforms and community tools. Today, it powers several successful ventures, including the Wildfire CityPages network itself.

What we don't do
- Basic Websites – Rarely does Wildfire take on basic websites. Instead we help St. Louis area companies integrate their digital assets into the CityPages Business Hub. We do help companies understand what is available regarding websites and can help vet potential web site developers for your clients.
- Mornings – Well, sort of. As a software develoment company, our staff tends to work the late shift. So, if we don't pick up the phone at 8am its because we had a long night coding or might be playing pickelball.
Why "Wildfire"?
The name reflects the rapid spread of Internet technology in the 1990s and our goal is still to help ideas, businesses, and communities catch fire online.
Wildfire Internet remains privately owned and operated with the same core philosophy since day one: build reliable, thoughtful technology that solves real problems and stands the test of time.
